Women’s T20 Challenge 2019, Final, Supernovas vs Velocity, Preview - Mithali and Harmanpreet steal limelight as Jaipur prepares for final showdown
Despite the slowness of the track, there will be a decent amount of runs scored looking at the sheer strength of their respective lineups.
After their experiment with the Women’s T20 Challenge with just two sides worked decently, BCCI decided to make it a Tri-series this time and it managed to garner great attention. This league is expected to grow bigger and better to take Women’s cricket forward in this country and in its first ever finale, Velocity will be taking on Supernovas on Saturday.
Smriti Mandhana‘s side bowed out after Supernovas registered a big win in the third and final group game. It’s now all down to the two biggest stalwarts of Indian cricket – Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur to take over and entertain the audience in what will be a repeat of the final group game.
Although we have seen some low scoring encounters, there has been no dearth in the entertainment factor. Despite the slowness of the track, there will be a decent amount of runs scored looking at the sheer strength of their respective lineups. If that is the case, the audience will be up for a sensational contest.
Playing Combinations
Supernovas
No changes are expected in the XI despite Priya Punia not getting among the runs yet. They have some great International experience in Sophie Devine and Natalie Sciver, which eases some pressure out of Harmanpreet Kaur. Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav have been their two best bowlers and will be keen to continue the good work.
Probable XI
Priya Punia, Chamari Athapaththu, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Sophie Devine, Natalie Sciver, Lea Tahuhu, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Anuja Patil, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav.
Velocity
The new entrants to the League will once again bank on the swashbuckling Danielle Wyatt to register a big score. Mithali Raj and Veda Krishnamurthy will have a significant role to play if openers Hayley Matthews and Shafali Verma fail to deliver again. They have a decent set of medium pacers in Shikha Pandey, Komal Zanzad and Jahanara Alam who will be devastating with the new ball.
Probable XI
Hayley Matthews, Shafali Verma, Danielle Wyatt, Mithali Raj (C), Veda Krishnamurthy, Sushma Verma (wk), Shikha Pandey, Jahanara Alam, Amelia Kerr, Komal Zanzad, Ekta Bisht
