Australia continues its domination over the Pakistani team in the World Cup matches by defeating the Women in Green comfortably by seven wickets margin in the sixth match of the marquee tournament at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Solid performances from bowlers and opener Alyssa Healy’s breezy knock of 72 runs off 79 balls were too much for the Asian side to handle as they faced a crushing loss with 92 balls left in the Aussie innings.

Talking about how the game went by, Australia skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to field first. Pakistan openers Sidra Ameen and Nahida Khan scored two and nine runs respectively as the team found themselves in big trouble with the score being 44/4. Skipper Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz then steadied the innings by stitching 99 runs partnership for the fifth wicket, the highest partnership for Pakistan for that wicket in the 50-overs format. Riaz got out for 53 runs while Maroof remained unbeaten to take her side to 190/6 in 50 overs. All Aussie bowlers bowled tightly to keep Pakistan score below 200.

In reply, wicketkeeper-batter Healy struck 72 off 79 which included seven fours. Rachael Haynes and captain Lanning amassed 34 and 35 runs respectively. With all the batters getting good starts, Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney also joined hands to guide their side to an easy victory by seven wickets in 34.4 overs by remaining not out on 26 and 23 runs respectively. Healy was adjudged with the Player of the Match award for her match-winning fluent half-century. Notably, Australia has now played 13 ODIs with Pakistan and won all of them. With this result, the Australian team has now played two and won two while Pakistan has also played the same number of matches losing both in the ongoing World Cup.
