World Cup 2015 Match 33 Group A England vs Bangladesh preview; Chance for England to redeem themselves:
Date: 9 March 2015 Time: 0900 IST
Venue: Adelaide
England
The English got a pasting from Sri Lanka in their last match. They couldn’t defend a total of 309 against the Lankans and neither could pick up more than a wicket against them.
This means though their batting has found some form, their bowling is still stuck where it was at the start of the World Cup. They might think of playing an extra spinner on the slow Adelaide pitch which assists slow bowlers. James Anderson has been impressive along with Finn, but has got no support from Broad. Their only back up has been Chris Woakes who has been picking up wickets with his line and length bowling technique. They will be aware that the pitch is something what Bangladeshis play in their home country and would be comfortable batting there.
English batting has to click into the 4th gear and they need contributions from their lower order in order to post big scores. Ian Bell, Moeen Ali, Joe Root and James Taylor have done their best to keep England alive in the tournament, but it has been the non-existent form of their biggest stroke maker Captain Eoin Morgan that has been plaguing them the most. His no form means at least a deficit of 40-60 runs in their final total and no nitro boost at the end of the innings.
If England loose, their chances to qualify will diminish or they will qualify as the fourth team and would have to play the no.1 team of Group B in the quarter finals, probably India who have been on red hot form. Nonetheless a cracker of a game awaits the viewers and fans of both countries.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh chased down their highest target in 319 against Scotland. This means that their batting is in good form. Bangladesh’s senior firm – Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan – struck fifties to complete the victory. Batting wise Bangladesh is golden, all of their most needed players are in touch and are capable enough to handle the English pace battery, who so far have been carted all around the park. They would have to take caution against James Anderson and Steven Finn because one has swing and other has express pace, both of which troubles the Bangladeshi batsmen a lot.
The problem area for them is their bowlers. They leaked 319 runs against a team ranked below themselves and the opposition batsman hit a score of 150 plus. Apart from Taskin Ahmed and Shakib, all the others went for runs and that is something they have to rectify. The English batting is capable to rip apart this type of pedestrian bowling from Bangladesh.
A win here will solidify their chances to qualify for the quarter finals in the World Cup, which will be a big achievement for them. And they will do everything to make that true.
