World Cup 2019: Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed are set to bowl for Team India at the nets in London

The Indian team has landed in London, England to participate in the ICC World Cup 2019 which begins from May 30 and will see 10 of the top ODI teams taking on each other in a round robin format in order to reach the semi-finals and then crown the World Champions. The Indian team has started practising as well and hit the nets a day after landing.

The no.2 ranked ODI team in ICC rankings, India is widely considered to be favourites to win the tournament and become champions for the third time, along with hosts England and defending champions Australia. The Indian team has a mix of experience in Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Mohammad Shami.

With youth in likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya amongst others. Apart from the originally announced 15-man squad, the Indian team has also employed the services of four young Indian fast bowlers to bowl in the nets throughout the tournament.

Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed leave for England

Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini will be helping Team India in their preparation for the quadrennial tournament. Saini is also a standby player for the Indian team and can replace anyone after seeking ICC‘s permission if any fast bowler becomes injured. The decision was taken to provide cover to injuries and to also provide the Indian batsmen with some quality bowling options in the net sessions given that the tournament will last a month and a half.

Rajasthan’s Deepak Chahar and Hyderabad’s Khaleel Ahmed were recently in action for the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, while Navdeep Saini starred for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the tournament. While CSK and SRH made the playoffs, RCB were relegated to the last place in the points table. Left-handed Khaleel Ahmed also brings a different perspective to facing bowlers in the tournament, with West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, and others having good left-arm pacers.

Chahar has shown amazing ability to swing the ball and has experience of bowling in England with the India A team and for India as well, since he made his T20I debut in Bristol. Khaleel Ahmed meanwhile has bowled in swinging and pace conditions in Australia and New Zealand and had tremendous success in doing so.

Recently, three of these net bowlers in Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar and Khaleel Ahmed left for London on May 23, with Avesh Khan posting a selfie on his Instagram account.
