World Cup 2019: Fans drag in Sania Mirza while trolling Shoaib Malik for not playing vs New Zealand
Malik was dropped from the team after their defeat at the nads of India.
The Pakistan team has been on a roll so far in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, as they defeated South Africa and the then-undefeated New Zealand to stay alive in the tournament with a chance for making it into semifinals. After much experimentation, it seems like the Men in Green have finally figured out a working XI.
Much of it was achieved by taking the non-performing players out after receiving severe backlash from former cricketers and fans as well. The fans got really brutal with online and personal trolling with many taking potshots at several players with captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and senior cricketer Shoaib Malik copping the brunt of it.
Sania Mirza targeted by fans while trolling her husband Shoaib Malik
Not only Shoaib Malik but his wife, ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was also targeted online after Pakistan had lost to India on June 16. She was blamed for Malik’s poor performance in the tournament where he had scored in single digits and was out the first ball against their arch-rivals. He was finally dropped against South Africa and Pakistan won the game to keep their hopes alive for semis.
Pakistan got better of the New Zealand team thanks to the initial 3-wicket burst of Shaheen Afridi and then the amazing century from Babar Azam and his 126-run partnership with Haris Sohail, which took the Men in Green to a six-wicket victory. For New Zealand, Jimmy Neesham played a great knock of 97*, his highest score in ODIs and Colin de Grandhomme, who also scored a fifty to help put on a 132-run partnership to help Kiwis post a formidable total.
Sania was ecstatic when Pakistan defeated New Zealand the other night to stay on course for qualification in semis. She took to Twitter in order to praise the performance of the team and posted, “What an incredibly great leveler sport can be.” It was incredibly positive support for the Men in Green, especially after the criticism they faced during the initial phase.

However, some people even found a way to troll her and her husband Shoaib on such a very good post praising the game of cricket and performance of the team.
