World Cup 2019: Hilarious memes go viral after Sarfaraz Ahmed leaned over Lord’s balcony
Pakistan team has come under the scanner for being unfit and random fans commented about their eating habits.
Pakistan might have crawled back into the race for the semi-finals in World Cup 2019 but their captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is yet to get rid of the public glare. The wicketkeeper-batsman was on Sunday saw leaning over the balcony at Lord’s and soon, hilarious memes started breaking the internet. Sarfaraz might not be as brutally targeted as he was a week back, but he is still being followed by ‘light-hearted’ hecklers, it was confirmed.
Pakistan came out with a clinical performance against a hapless South Africa at the Lord’s exactly a week after they suffered a humiliating loss to India. Having batted first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 308 for 7 and then restricted the Proteas to 259 for 9 to win by 49 runs.
It was Pakistan’s second win in six games and they are still alive in the race for the last four. Haris Sohail scored 89 off 59 while Babar Azam contributed 69 off 80 balls to power the Pakistan innings to a big total. The former champions will play New Zealand at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
Going back to the Sarfaraz episode, lensmen caught him leaning over the balcony and soon, memes came out speculating what the man could have said in such a bizarre position. While some tweeted that Sarfaraz was asking about the person who rung the doorbell, others said he was asking for vegetable prices. The other said that Sarfaraz was telling the supporters that he hadn’t had any more junk food the night before.
Men in Green have come under scanner after losing to India
The Pakistan side has come under stern criticism after their loss to India, especially on the question of maintaining discipline. Videos of Shoaib Malik sitting at a sheesha place with wife Sania Mirza and other Pakistani cricketers had become viral, fuelling accusations that the Pakistan players were busy partying late in the night despite having a big game against India the next day.
It was later clarified both by the Pakistan Cricket Board and Malik that the video was an old one. Even the families of players were not spared following the loss, leading to reactions from cricketers – both current and former. Sarfaraz also became a target, particularly over his yawning on the ground. He was also called fat and unfit and even compared to a pig.
