Pakistan

Fighting old demons can be a very hard task. Pakistan’s demons are their inability to handle the slightest of pressures. The middle order topples the moment the openers and one-down fail to make a mark. Their win against the home team was impressive but it has all been downhill from there. While they fought back against Australia a little, it was rather one-sided against India.

Pakistan has four more matches to go to make a mark. While the matches against Bangladesh and Afghanistan should not be too hard, New Zealand will be a tough nut to crack. The match against South Africa could be an even-sided one. They might not make any changes to the team that played India.

Not counting the only win that South Africa has had in World Cup 2019 ( simply because it was against Afghanistan), the team’s performance has been rather dismal. One thing to be noted is that the margin of loss has been decreasing.

The team is not without strong players. It was not the batting that let them down. The scores made by the team in each and every match were good enough. What the team needs to work on is the economy rate of the bowlers and breaking partnerships. Strike rate of the batsmen can also be better.
