World Cup 2019: Sophie Choudry slams fans for criticising MS Dhoni
After criticism for his knock against England, the fans were not happy with Dhoni's batting against Bangladesh as well.
MS Dhoni has been receiving a lot of flak for not being able to up the ante in the ongoing World Cup. While he started the tournament well, the veteran’s inability to get off the blocks from the word go against England irked the fans. Moreover, even against Bangladesh, the fans weren’t impressed with his denial of singles in the last over and criticised him to the hilt. However, the Bollywood actress Sophie Choudry has come out in Dhoni’s support now and has slammed the fans for being too critical of him.
Even the team management including the captain Virat Kohli has backed MS Dhoni time and again. Sanjay Bangar, ahead of the Bangladesh clash, wasn’t happy with the same question popping up continuously and cleared that the team backs him to come good. Rather, Dhoni’s 35-run knock off 33 deliveries was crucial given the way the pitch was playing even as Sachin Tendulkar felt that the former Indian captain did what was best for the team at that stage.
But the fans continued to criticise him and felt he should have scored at a better rate which wasn’t possible as the pitch slowed down immensely.
He still managed to score more than the captain
Sophie Choudry was furious with the way MS Dhoni was being criticised for his innings against Bangladesh. She took to Twitter to slam the fans and pointed out the way Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami threw their wickets away in the final over. She also went on to say that the veteran scored more runs Virat Kohli.
“Shocked by the way fans are criticising #dhoni .. If you saw the way bhuvi lost his wicket as did Shami, you would understand why Dhoni probably wanted to keep the strike as much as possible!! Incidentally, he still managed to score more than the captain today! #justsaying,” Sophie’s tweet read.
While MS Dhoni’s issues against the spinners are well known to the world, one cannot entirely question his approach with India’s tail a little long to its liking. With almost nothing expected from the last four batsmen, it becomes imperative for Dhoni to bat until the end and even farm the strike at times to protect the tail-enders.
