World Cup 2019: Yuvraj Singh teases Matthew Hayden ahead of India-Australia tie through Star Sports’ new ad
Recently, Aussies defeated the Men in Blue in their own backyard 2-3 in the ODI series.
India and Australia shared a storied history in the ICC World Cup. Australia, who are the World Champions at the moment, have met India in a quarter-final, a semi-final and a final in the ICC event over time and has an 8-3 lead in 11 meetings so far. The two teams will meet on Sunday, June 9 at the Oval in London in ICC World Cup 2019.
Australia has already won both of their opening matches against Afghanistan, which was a walk in park; and against West Indies, where they were given a tough fight by Jason Holder’s men and only fifties from Steve Smith and Nathan Coulter-Nile saved them with the bat and a fifer from Mitchell Starc with the ball led them to a win.
Yuvraj and Hayden clash on Twitter ahead of the blockbuster encounter on Sunday
The official broadcasters of ICC World Cup in India have recently released a new ad ahead of India-Australia match which sees the Indian fan showing off the two World Cup trophies won by the Men in Blue to fans of other teams. However, he is then upstaged by the Australian fan, who is balancing five trophies; two on their palm, two on the shoulder and one on the head.
The last time these two countries met was in 2015 World Cup’s semis where a hundred from Steve Smith downed the Indian team which was led by MS Dhoni and was unbeaten till that point. The ad gave former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden a chance to tease Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh before the encounter.
Hayden tweeted, “Hey @YUVSTRONG12, this new @StarSportsIndia promo for ICC #CWC19 is darn good! Did you watch it? Gimme a high-FIVE for #INDvAUS mate! See you guys on June 9”
Yuvraj Singh, who is known for his amazing wit, wasn’t the one to be taking the jab sitting down and replied in kind, saying, “Stop showing off those 5 titles, Haydos. Just to let you know, we’re gonna be TWO good for you in #INDvAUS on June 9”
Aaron Finch-led Australian team has the upper hand when it comes to recent clashes against India, as it defeated the Men in Blue in their own backyard 2-3 in the ODI series. The Indian top order looked a bit wobbly against New Zealand in the warmup game against pace and swing, which will be exposed nicely by the likes of Starc and Cummins on the bouncy Oval pitch.
