Corey Anderson was an integral part of the side for two major reasons. One, to give the ball a proper whack as he was more than capable of and the second was to lead the bowling attack in the absence of Trent Boult and Tim Southee. He excelled in both roles by scoring 86 quickfire runs and picking up 2 wickets. His hard work was undone as he was taken for runs in the semi-final by Jason Roy. He bowled just the one over in the semi-final.
