WTC Final: Sonu Sood reacts after fan asks him to send Kane Williamson to pavilion
Kane Williamson gave a hard time to Indian bowlers in the WTC final.
Cricket fans worldwide have witnessed a fascinating contest between the bat and the ball in the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand. For the very first time, a world title is at stake in a Test match, and both teams have embraced the challenge with brilliance. New Zealand seemed to be in the driver’s seat after bundling India out for 217 in the first innings at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Nevertheless, Indian bowlers bounced back and dismissed the likes of Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls cheaply. However, one man who was threatening to take the game away from Virat Kohli’s men was Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson. The talismanic batsman showed remarkable resilience and made the Indian team work hard. While wickets were falling around him, Williamson remained rock-solid in the middle.
Frustrated by Williamson’s resilience, an enthusiastic Indian fan asked Bollywood actor Sonu Sood to send him back to the pavilion. For the uninitiated, Sood has helped numerous people reach their homes ever since the COVID-19 pandemic came into the picture. Hence, the Indian fan believed that only the Dabangg star could take Williamson to the hut. However, Sood had a different opinion on this.

Reacting to the tweet, the veteran actor wrote: “हमारी टीम में ऐसे दिग्गज हैं जो खुद ही भेज देंगे। देखा, गया ना।” (Our team has so many giants who can themselves send him (to the pavilion). See he went).” By the time Sood responded to the fan, Williamson was out for 49 runs and the Entertainment actor seemed delighted.
Ishant Sharma was the man who got the prized scalp of Williamson. The veteran pacer delivered a brilliant outswinger which managed to take a thick edge of the Kiwi star’s willow. Virat Kohli took a good catch at slips, and Indian camp breathed a sigh of relief. However, the Kiwis still managed to take a handy first-innings of lead of 32 runs.
At stumps on Day 5, India were 64/2, leading by 32 runs. Notably, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has allocated a reserve day to make up for the time lost due to rain. Hence, an entire day of play is still left in the contest, and it would be interesting to see how it pans out.
