Cricket fans worldwide had marked their calendars for the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand. However, the summit clash got off to a terrible start, with Day 1 being washed without a single ball being bowled. The persistent rain at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton didn’t even allow the toss to take place. Hence, lovers of the gentleman’s game are praying for cricket-friendly weather in the coming days.

After all, India and New Zealand are crossing swords in arguably the most high-octane Test match ever. With a world title being at stake, both teams must leave no stones unturned to emerge victorious. The cricket world is expecting to witness a fascinating contest with both these sides being phenomenal in red-ball cricket over the last few months.

Several odds are indeed in the Kiwi side’s favour, with the conditions in England and New Zealand being pretty similar. Moreover, they come into this clash on the back of a 1-0 win over hosts England. Hence, their confidence would be sky high, and Virat Kohli’s men will have to put up an exceptional effort to thrive the Blackcaps challenge.

Contrary to New Zealand’s preparations, Team India didn’t get a Test series to get in the groove. In fact, they landed in England on June 3 and underwent a 10-day quarantine period. However, they sweated it out in an intra-squad practice game and even announced their playing XI on the eve of the encounter. This shows the confidence in the Indian camp, and they’ll take the field up and running.

Contrary to Day 1, weather on the second day is expected to be way better and a significant amount of action can take place. According to accuweather.com, the morning session would be partly sunny, with the cloud covering some part of the sky. However, the weather could intervene as the game progresses. Some showers are expected in the latter half of the afternoon session, which might halt the contest. However, the biggest threat is over the post-tea session as the rain is expected to get heavier in the evening. Notably, ICC has kept a reserve day for this clash to make up for the lost time.
