Rohit Sharma urged for an attacking approach by the Indian team after the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final loss. The team recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 and Rohit’s attacking cricket got a stamp of authority from the fans. In Tests, he has got an identical version of his style in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and the duo has turned out to be a nightmare for the opposition as they set the foundation and momentum for the team upfront.

India will be playing a three-match Test series against New Zealand with the first game commencing on October 16 in Bengaluru. Ahead of the curtain raiser, the India skipper lauded his opening partner and added that the southpaw is game-ready for all conditions. It is worth noting that the duo started opening together during the West Indies series in 2023.

"He's a real talent. He has got the game to play in all sorts of conditions. He's still new so it's hard to judge. But he's got all the ingredients. He has come through the ranks and has succeeded. That's why he's playing for India," Rohit Sharma said during the pre-match press conference.

It was a risk we were willing to take: Rohit

Rohit and Jaiswal were in marauding form in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. In the first inning, they reached the 50-run mark in just three overs, the fastest 50 for any team. They did not downgrade the run flow, and took India’s total to 100 in just 10.1 overs, the fastest for any team, and bettered their previous record against West Indies in 2023.

“Batters obviously with that mindset to buy into the thought of going and getting runs as quickly as possible. It was a risk we were willing to take because when you're trying to bat like that, you can be bundled out for a low score. But we were ready for it even if we got bowled out for 100-150,” said Rohit after that game.
