Yograj Singh makes a sensational U-turn on MS Dhoni; praises him for serving the country
"In fact, I am Dhoni's fan," Yograj said.
Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh has been in the news recently more for criticising MS Dhoni. He held the veteran responsible for India’s loss in 2015 and 2019 World Cup semi-finals and also accused him of dropping the likes of Yuvraj, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag when he was the captain of the team. However, Yograj has made a sensational U-turn over his statement stating that he never blamed Dhoni for the semi-final losses and praised the former India skipper for serving the nation.
A couple of videos went viral recently when Yograj Singh took a dig at MS Dhoni. The 38-year-old was also at the receiving end of his wrath after Ambati Rayudu as Yograj termed Dhoni ‘filthy’. The former cricketer who also acted in a few films has time and again blamed Dhoni for not picking his son Yuvraj Singh in the team despite being fit.
But in an interview to News 24 Sports, Yograj Singh has cleared that he never blamed MS Dhoni for India’s loss in the semi-final of the two World Cups and it is not his version. Rather he praised the wicketkeeper-batsman for serving the nation and also for his impeccable captaincy. “I never said this. I never blamed MS Dhoni for the loss. It is not my version. You have asked a wrong question to the wrong person, he said.
I am Dhoni’s fan
MS Dhoni made himself unavailable for the West Indies tour amidst talks of his retirement and decided to serve Army regiment for around two months. When asked about the same Yograj Singh was all praise for him. He felt that one should serve the nation like he is doing for a long time now and also praised Dhoni for taking some good decisions when he was at the helm for the Indian team.
“There is no doubt that he has been serving the nation for a long time. He is a legendary player. In fact, I am Dhoni’s fan. The way he has played the cricket, the way he has led the side, the kind of decisions he has taken, has been very good,” the 61-year-old further added. This is massive U-turn over his previous statement on MS Dhoni though Yograj Singh didn’t forget to criticised him indirectly again.
