‘You deserve a better franchise’ – Twitterati slam SRH management as David Warner cheers from stands
David Warner was spotted cheering the Orange Army from the stands.
The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been nothing but forgettable for David Warner. While the dashing Australian opener started the season as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, he doesn’t find a place in the side’s dugout now. During SRH’s outing against Kolkata Knight Riders, the 34-year-old was spotted cheering the Orange Army from the stands of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Fans were left heartbroken after coming across the same as the SRH team management faced backlash on social media. For the unversed, Warner was shockingly sacked as captain midway in the first half of IPL 2021. The decision was taken to change SRH’s fortunes in the competition. He even got dropped from the playing XI. While he played a couple of matches in the UAE leg, scores of 0 and 2 meant Warner is axed again.

Furthermore, Warner, after getting dropped, didn’t travel with the team and stayed back at team hotel. Apparently, he wasn’t picked in the first 18. However, all these factors didn’t restrict the 34-year-old from cheering his side. During the clash against KKR, Warner was seen in stands cheering the Kane Williamson-led side with some fans. He even posted a selfie from the stadium with fellow spectators.
Fans were left exasperated after coming across this and slammed the SRH management. After all, Warner has been their one of the most prolific performers over the years. He joined the franchise in 2014 and didn’t take long in becoming the cornerstone of the side. Alongside scoring a bulk of runs, the southpaw did well in the leadership department as well.
Under him, SRH also lifted their maiden IPL title in 2016. In fact, Warner bagged the orange cap as many as three times while playing for the Hyderabad franchise. Highlighting all these facts, netizens slammed SRH not even allowing him in the dug-out. Meanwhile, SRH, who have already been knocked out of the playoff race, continued their lean patch against KKR. After posting a paltry 115 while batting first, SRH put up a decent fight but they eventually lost the contest by six wickets.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to David Warner’s treatment:
