You deserve this, says Sourav Ganguly to Rishabh Pant by lifting him
Pant's match-winning knock took DC to the top of the points table.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) are currently sitting at the top of the points table with 14 points to their name. They defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) the other day chasing a mammoth total of 192 runs thanks to Rishabh Pant’s blitzkrieg. He smashed 78 runs off just 36 deliveries with six fours and four maximums and fittingly ended the game with a six in the final over.
Coming into this game, there was a lot of pressure on Pant. After a match-winning knock against the Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier in the season, nothing went in the youngster’s favour on and off the field. While he was guilty of throwing his wicket way every now and then, Pant wasn’t picked in India’s World Cup squad as well as the selectors preferred an experienced Dinesh Karthik ahead of him.
But the DC team management kept backing him through this lean phase and he repaid the faith at the perfect time to power his side to the top of the table. Rishabh Pant walked in to bat when Delhi was under some pressure after their skipper Shreyas Iyer‘s wicket. However, he came out and played his shots freely on a good batting pitch to take his team over the line. What followed the win was admiration and appreciation by the cricket pundits for the southpaw.
Dada lifts Pant
The advisor of the Delhi Capitals Sourav Ganguly was also delighted watching Rishabh Pant bat. He literally lifted the left-hander after the match in celebration as the others around had a lot of fun. Ganguly also posted the picture on his official Twitter handle and captioned it with the message which read, “Rishabh pant @RishabPant777 @ParthJindal11 u deserve this .. u r wow.”
The team now will be hoping that Pant bats the same way for the remainder of the season as DC now prepare for the game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday.
