Dinesh Karthik has had a dream comeback into the international arena after a long gap of almost three years. The now 37-year-old had last played an international match during the 2019 World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand, which India had eventually lost. Since then, Karthik was out of the international picture.

But the wicketkeeper-batter worked hard on himself, improved his game, and put out a remarkable performance at the IPL 2022 after being picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the mega auction. His consistent performances with RCB this year earned him a place in India’s T20I squad against South Africa in the home series.

After his heroics from the recently concluded game, his conversation with Rohit Sharma, from last year, has resurfaced on social media. Dinesh Karthik had posted a picture of himself, captioning it “Just me being me” with the ‘blessed’ emoticon. To which Rohit Sharma had replied, “You still have some cricket left. FYI!”. Karthik responded to Sharma’s message and said “Don’t ever doubt that sham” with the wink emoticon.

Dinesh Karthik flaunted class in Rajkot

Karthik played a terrific knock in the fourth T20I against the Proteas which concluded on Friday, June 17, as the Men in Blue bounced back to level the series 2-2. Karthik’s 27-ball 55 towards the end of the first innings proved why he was known as one of the finest finishers and has the fire even now. His knock, which included nine fours and two sixes, helped India put up a defendable target of 170 runs.

The conversation between the duo happened almost 48 weeks ago when Karthik had shared his picture from England at one of the stadiums. The veteran was there as a commentator for Sky Sports for The Hundred – the unique franchise-based tournament which had launched last year. Karthik’s stint as a commentator began during the World Test Championship finals between India and New Zealand when he took the seat behind the mic.

He is currently with the Indian squad for the ongoing Proteas series and will be flying to Ireland with the team for the upcoming two T20Is scheduled on June 26 and June 28 in Dublin.
