You’ve been a big brother to all of us, says Virat Kohli to MS Dhoni on his 38th birthday
Kohli and Dhoni have immense respect for each other.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is better known as MS or Mahi is celebrating his 38th birthday today on July 7, 2019. Currently, with the Indian team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, the former captain is looking forward to facing New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament on July 9.
The Indian team topped the points table after it defeated Sri Lanka in their last league match and it was confirmed when South Africa beat Australia in the final league match of the tournament that they face the Black Caps and Australia takes on England in the second semifinals. The first of the knockout matches will be played in Manchester, while the second will take place in Birmingham.
Like everyone, the team celebrated MS Dhoni’s birthday in style as the cake was smashed on his face after he cut it in presence of his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva. Everyone knows that Dhoni is playing his final World Cup tournament and there were rumours going on in the newspaper that the veteran might also call time on his career after India’s final match of the tournament.
Indian captain Virat Kohli also took to Twitter in order to wish his former captain MS Dhoni on his special day. Kohli posted a picture of himself and Dhoni coming off a field after winning a match for India, with a message that read, “Happy birthday mahi bhai @msdhoni. Very few people understand the meaning of trust and respect and I’m glad to have had the friendship I have with you for so many years. You’ve been a big brother to all of us and as I said before, you will always be my captain.”
Meanwhile, India gets a couple of days to rest and prepare a plan for the Kiwis, as they have to counter the threat of Kane Williamson who is in amazing form and they are the only team, they didn’t play in league matches, with their encounter being washed off in the league stage.
The ICC on Sunday announced the officials for the first semifinal as well. Englishmen Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough will be the on-field umpires while Rod Tucker and Nigel Llong will be the third and fourth umpires respectively. Australia’s David Boon will be the match referee for the crucial encounter.
