You've just got to take your hat off to Rohit Sharma, says James Anderson
India won the T20I series by 2-1 and Rohit was exceptional in the decider.
Rohit Sharma played one of his best T20I knocks as he became only the second player ever to score three tons in the format. He remained unbeaten exactly on 100 off just 56 balls with 11 fours and five gigantic maximums during his stay in the middle. He was well supported by Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya in the chase as India gunned down the total of 199 runs with utter ease. Like many, James Anderson was also in awe of the Indian opener and hailed him as one of the great players the game has ever seen.
After opting to chase, the visitors needed one of their top-order batsmen to score big and the Hitman put his hand up for the tough task. He took a couple of overs to get his eye in and then just blazed away nonchalantly. His authoritative pull shots against the short balls were pleasing to the eyes as he was also cheeky with his placements and finding the gaps in the field.
He’s not just a T20 player
James Anderson was mesmerized after watching Rohit Sharma pummel England’s bowling attack and felt that the hosts didn’t bowl badly. He gave whole credit to the centurion who had the answer to every plan of the opposition and left them frustrated with his gifted strokeplay. He also stressed the fact that Rohit is not just a T20 player and has all the talent to become the best across all the format.
“England didn’t bowl too badly. Rohit is such a great player – not just a T20 player. He’s so nice to watch and you’ve just got to take your hat off to him,” the premier fast bowler of England said while speaking to BBC on Test match Special.
Anderson will be in action during the five-match Test series against Team India which is all set to commence on August 1 in Birmingham. He is currently recovering from his long-standing shoulder injury and will play a couple of domestic games prior to the series in order to prove his fitness.
