Yusuf Pathan blessed with baby boy
Yusuf Pathan became a father of a baby boy in the early hours of Thursday morning, the 21st of April 2016. The news comes in barely a day after the older of the Pathan brothers featured in the KKR side that beat the Kings XI Punjab at Mohali.
The 2016 calendar year has been an exciting one for the Pathan family with Irfan Pathan getting married earlier in the year. An official statement is yet to be released by the family. Yusuf might opt out from a game or two to be there with the new member.
Despite being out of the Indian team at the moment, Yusuf Pathan has been a prominent part of Indian cricketing folklore. His first tryst with international cricket came in the 2007 and inaugural edition of the World T20, a tournament that the Indians triumphed. He also played the final at Johannesburg ahead of Virender Sehwag.
However, his greatest moment in cricket came in the 2011 World Cup, where Pathan was used as a finisher and for his off-spinning prowess. The Indians won a tight and emotionally draining encounter against arch-rivals Sri Lanka to win their first World Cup title since 1983. However, despite the win, Pathan’s chances in the national side became slim, especially with the emergence of players such as Ravindra Jadeja and others, leaving him confined to playing domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League.
It is often suggested that fatherhood has a deep effect on a sportsperson’s personality. In this case, the 33-year old and his fans will certainly be hoping that it has a positive impact on his cricketing persona.
