Veteran all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is all set to travel to Dhaka on 22nd of this month after Baroda’s selectors decided to axe him from the side. The senior pro was shown the cold shoulder after managing to amass just 79 runs in the tournament in 6 games. Baroda managed to muster stellar results in the tournament, winning five out of their six league games. They will be facing neighbors Saurashtra in the Quarter-final on Thursday.

The 35-year-old all-rounder was primarily willing to play in the DPL, but he received an unexpected call-up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Incidentally, he was not picked in the 30-man probable list but was picked in the final 15. In recent times, the Baroda Cricket Association also has been facing some intense music regarding the way they’re handling senior players. Citing his poor run in the tournament, the selectors justified their call to drop him.

Although BCCI is very possessive about its players when it comes to participating in other major T20 tournaments, they’ve allowed a few cricketers to participate in the DPL. Including Yusuf Pathan, some other big names in the Indian circuit like Parvez Rasool, Unmukt C, and Manoj Tiwary have featured in the tournament previously.

Second Outing in the DPL

After all the drama that has unfolded over the last few days, Yusuf Pathan has finally decided to book his flight to Dhaka. He will be travelling to the neighbouring country on 22nd February and will be representing the Prime Bank Cricket Club in the competition. The explosive batsman has already made a decent mark in the tournament when he was a part of it in 2016 and it’ll be interesting to see how things will pan out.

Yusuf Pathan was picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Auction for INR 1.9 Crore and that brought an end to a wonderful 7-year stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders. This tournament will serve as a warm-up for the big IPL season coming up and he’d be eager to churn a good amount of runs and carry forward the rich vein of form to Hyderabad.
