Yuzvendra Chahal frustrates me as he bowls so slowly with so much skill: Trent Boult
Chahal is the highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far with a tally of 19.
Rajasthan Royals’ stylish pacer Trent Boult said that if he were a batter, the bowler who would scare him the most from the RR lot would be Yuzvendra Chahal. The two players are a part of the Royals’ bowling attack in IPL 2022 and have been very impressive with the ball, contributing to their team’s success.
Both Boult and Chahal were roped in by the Rajasthan-based franchise this year during the mega-auction. While the former has given some decent performances in the games, Chahal has been on a roll since the very first day at the camp. He is currently the leading wicket-taker of the side and has been bringing his A-game on.
In a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Boult was asked which RR bowler would scare him the most if he were a batter to which he said: “Yuzi Chahal frustrates me so much because he bowls so slowly with so much skill that I think why I cannot hit this guy for a six. I have only faced him a couple of times in the game, but Yuzi if you’re listening, I am gonna send you long into the crowd (laughs).”
Yuzvendra Chahal has emerged as a deadly spinner in the group
In the nine games that he has played so far, Chahal has bagged 19 wickets to his name at an average of 13.68 and an economy of 7.22. His skills were never something to be doubted, but he emerged as one of RR’s most dangerous spinners of the season when he scalped a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in RR’s game against the Kolkata Knight Riders and went on to win the Player of the Match award.
Boult, being an experienced bowler himself, has not faced Chahal much in the international or the IPL games as the two bat in the lower order of the team. Rajasthan Royals have had a good run in the cash-rich event so far, having six wins from the nine games played, keeping their place intact in the upper half of the leaderboard.
