Over the years, many Indian players have been spotted wearing the jerseys of their teammates due to some or other reasons. This was evident multiple times when the Men in Blue had toured the Caribbean islands for a bilateral series. Some of the examples include Sourav Ganguly wearing Suresh Raina’s jersey, Deepak Hooda wearing Prasidh Krishna’s t-shirt and two players spotted wearing pacer Arshdeep Singh’s jersey.

Now, Shikhar Dhawan is the latest member to be included in this list. The senior batter was spotted wearing bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur’s jersey while he came out and opened the batting along with stand-in captain KL Rahul during the third and final One Day International against Zimbabwe that is currently underway at the Harare Sports Club.

Shardul’s name was taped, but jersey number 54 can be seen. Meanwhile, it is still unknown what might be the reason behind Dhawan wearing Thakur’s t-shirt. It is yet to be confirmed whether it is due to logistical reasons or any kind of unavoidable circumstances.

India look to seal the ODI series

Coming back to the contest, Dhawan and Rahul added 63 runs for the opening stand before the latter was dismissed for 30, The onus would now be on the southpaw to take care of the Indian innings and help them in posting a competitive total as they eye a whitewash in the ODI series.

Having already clinched the series, the Indian players would be looking at this contest as an opportunity to showcase their skills in order to be in the Indian One Day squad on a permanent basis. Moreover, Shikhar Dhawan would also be hoping to score some runs under his belt and finish the series on a high.

After scoring 81 in the first ODI, Dhawan was dismissed after scoring a quickfire 21-ball 33 in the second. He would now be hoping to convert his good start into an impactful knock in this contest as he eyes a place in the Indian squad for next year’s ODI World Cup at home.
