Herath came as the heir to Muttiah Murlithran in the Sri Lankan Test side. The 37-year old continues to deliver his duty as an orthodox left-arm spinner. Though he made his debut back in 1999 Herath, in his last match against India proved that he could still deliver long and disastrous spells.

Herath took 7 match-winning wickets for the Sri Lankan side that was on a verge of losing the game on the second day of Test match at Galle.
