Cheteshwar Pujara made huge noises in junior cricket with his triple hundred at Under-14 level and then a double hundred at Under-19 level. Playing for Saurashtra, the right-hander has two triple centuries and three double hundreds for India. This is a testament to Pujara’s glut of runs as he looks unbreachable at times.

Pujara was the leading run-scorer in India’s victorious tour down under. He amassed 521 runs in 4 matches at an average of 74, with three magnificent centuries. During the course of his 193-run knock in the fourth Test match at the SCG, Nathan Lyon quipped him about his hunger for scoring runs. “Aren’t you bored yet?,” the off-spinner was heard on the stump mic asking, before finally taking Pujara’s wicket.

Lyon picked 21 wickets in the series, but the Indian batters proved too good for the Aussie bowlers as the visitors won the series 2-1. Pujara’s form after the Australia series has tapered away with no hundred in the last 14 innings. However, Pujara and Mayank were the only Indian batters to gain some positives in the recently concluded New Zealand Test series.
