9. Pakistani openers gave a feel of Test match to Pollard

Kieron Pollard is a bubbly character- well, most of the West Indians are. Pollard, in particular, is loved not only for his entertainment with the willow but also for his theatrical antics on the field. He once taped his mouth while fielding against Chris Gayle in the IPL as the umpire warned him for sledging too much. The Trinidadian has given his ‘finger on lip’ treatment to many batters after dismissing them. He also slammed commentator Sanjay Manjrekar for his ‘verbal diarrhoea’ on twitter after Manjrekar criticized him on air.

Another of Pollard’s classic verbal smack came in the second ODI between West Indies and Pakistan at the Province Stadium, Guyana in 2013. Chasing a target of 233, Pakistani openers Ahmed Shehzad and Nasir Jamshed made a slow start. By the end of the seventh over, Pakistan had only 11 runs on the board- out of which 6 were extras and 5 off the bat.

Shehzad was 5 of 19 and Jamshed was batting at 0 from 20 balls. Pollard, who was fielding inside the circle, taunted Ahmed Shehzad by saying, “I have never played a Test match before, but I am seeing it now!” Ian Bishop on air chuckled about it and totally enjoyed Pollard’s banter with Shehzad.

Pollard has been given the limited-overs captaincy to rebuild their team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. West Indies have started off well, with the return of Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell to the team after their issues with the board. West Indies put competitive performance against India and whitewashed Sri Lanka in the T20 series. Under Pollard, the two-time World Champions will eye a third T20 World Cup later in the year.
