11 Facts about James Vince: The new-age Michael Vaughan
James Vince another classic batsman to have emerged from the English county scene. A batsman with solid technique and attacking instincts, he is a perfect example of the modern day batsman. Vince is a very important part of the evolving English cricket team which has seen an infusion of young talent recently. The right-hander has been prolific for the Hampshire and his playing style has made people compare him with English great Michael Vaughan. Vince is relatively newer in the international team but can be seen as the future leader of the team, considering his much- praised leadership skills and the fact that he assumed captaincy of Hampshire at the young age of 23.

James Michael Vince was born 14 March 1991 in Cuckfield Village, West Sussex
2. Education:
James was educated at Warminster School in Wiltshire from 2001-2007 before leaving school to play cricket.
3. The Footballer:
Vince was a very talented footballer and spent 3 years playing for Reading Academy before playing for Trowbridge Town F.C. at 16.
4. Early cricketing career:
James graduated from Hampshire’s cricket academy and first broke into the main playing Xi in 2009.
5. Under-19 Cricket:
The young James Vince’s impressive batting performances for Hampshire earned him a call-up to the England U-19 side for their test series against Bangladesh. He later represented England at the Under-19 World Cup alongside Joe Root and was the vice-captain of the team.
6. Reminiscent of Michael Vaughan:
According to Duncan Fletcher, who acted as a consult for Hampshire and was the former coach of the England team, Vince is reminiscent of former England batsman Michael Vaughan.
7. ODI Debut:
In spite of early success in the domestic circuit, James Vince had to wait till 2015 for his England call-up. He made his ODI debut for England against Ireland in a one-off match on 8 May 2015. However, it was a false start the match was abandoned due to rains.
8. Memorable T20 debut:
It was six months after his ODI debut until he got another opportunity in a three-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan on 26 November 2015 in the United Arab Emirates. Vince made it count as he topped the run scoring chart and was player of the series.
9. A prolific contributor for Hampshire:
Vince went past 1000 career runs for Hampshire while still a teenager – the second youngest player in the county’s history behind Phil Mead to do so.
10. A future Leader:
James Vince took Hampshire captaincy in all formats at only 24 He is hailed by his chairman Rod Bransgrove as “a genuinely gifted and creative captain with a maturity beyond his years.
11. County record breaking stand:
After becoming a first XI regular in 2010, Vince confirmed his pedigree with an innings of 180 against a Yorkshire at Scarborough in the month of august the same year against the attack comprising of attack that included Ajmal Shahzad, Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid. In that innings he added 278 with Jimmy Adams, breaking Hampshire’s fourth-wicket record which had stood since 1970.
