Indian cricket is surely gaining new heights with each passing day. Be it in the longer-version or shorter-formats of game, the Men in Blue are climbing the ladder with an astonishing pace. New faces are making their way while older ones are providing the much-required experience and direction.

Lately, the current set of players are setting new records and trying to fill all the empty blocks that existed earlier. Most importantly, the Asian cricket giants are no more weak bowling sides as they have been doing equally well at the receiving end in recent times.

Moreover, there has been a shift in the general perception that India don’t play well in overseas conditions. With the series win in Australia and New Zealand recently, the status is set to get reversed. Meanwhile, amid all the international happenings, some domestic stars have been unlucky to get very less or no chances at all to perform at the highest level.

In this piece, we look at three such players:

Karun Nair is probably one of the most underrated Indian cricketers right now. The right-handed batsman, despite churning out brilliant domestic and international numbers, hasn’t been given enough chances to feature for Team India in either of the formats. The Bangalore born cricketer has appeared in six Tests and scored 374 runs including an unbeaten triple-century against England.

The 27-year-old has even better domestic figures. He averages 49 in first-class cricket while 34 in List-A cricket and is one of those players who can both stick around and press the accelerator when required. He was a part of the Indian squad for England Tests last year though wasn’t given any match in the series and later dropped for the Australia assignment as well. Skipper, Kohli was even questioned by some former cricketers over dropping Karun.
