3 Players other than Virat Kohli who can lead RCB to victory in IPL 2020
As his backup, the team management has to jot down some other captaincy options.
The Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has boasted of some of the colossal names in the cricketing globe. Yet, the team is yet to get its hands on the coveted Indian Premier League trophy. Virat Kohli was appointed as the RCB skipper, replacing Daniel Vettori, in 2013 and has captained the team in excess of 100 games.
But the Challengers have mostly found themselves at the bottom of the table. Kohli has been among their top batters during his captaincy stint. However, he has faced flak for his constant failures as the leader.
For the upcoming IPL, the 31-year-old will again be in charge, hoping to turn RCB’s wretched fortunes around. But there could be an instance when he ends up developing an injury. As his backup, the team management has to jot down some other captaincy options.
In the article, let’s take a look at three players apart from Kohli, who can lead RCB: –
1. Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch has captained Australia in the ODIs and T20Is for quite some now with reasonable success under his belt. In 29 completed T20Is, the Victorian has 16 victories while losing 13. 2019 was a fruitful year for the Aussie opener as his team remained unbeaten in the shortest format, winning seven out of eight matches.
The other game against Pakistan at the SCG got rained off. In the 50-overs format, out of 23 matches in the previous year, the Aussies won 16 of them. In fact, from March to July, Australia were on a 10-match winning streak under Finch’s leadership.
The veteran was also the skipper of the Melbourne Renegades, who won the 2018-19 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). The 33-year-old is the most apt choice after Kohli to shoulder the captaincy mantle.
