Washington Sundar had impressed everyone in IPL 2017 when he played the role of powerplay bowler for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants and had an overall economy of just 6.16. This helped him in getting a national call-up, followed by a stint with RCB. Unfortunately, there was only a decline in his form after that.

His poor form deserted the team’s plans, as they failed to stop runs during the powerplay. This was the primary reason for other teams chasing down even the biggest of the totals against RCB. But the 20-year-old has the talent, and this has helped him get Virat Kohli’s backing, and chances for the Indian team.

The off-spinner can play a decisive role in RCB’s side in the next season. If he can stop runs in the powerplay, the team can create pressure on the opponents with Yuzvendra Chahal’s presence in the middle overs. It would be interesting to see how he copes up with the pressure and delivers on a batting-friendly Chinnaswamy track.
