Swearing in India is a pretty common phenomenon. It’s not something surprising even among the cricketers on the field. Be it for coming down hard on a teammate or having a friendly banter, throwing Hindi abuses don’t raise eyebrows anymore.

In the meantime, the foreign cricketers have also learned a few expletives. The IPL has given chance to a number of foreigners to play in India more. Previously, the likes of Sheldon Cottrell and James Neesham stated that they aren’t oblivious of Indian abuses.

A fan on Twitter abused Neesham and the latter didn’t miss out on hitting out at the user. Simon Taufel, the legendary umpire, even said that he knows how to abuse in six different languages. There also have been instances when the cricketers went on to use them.

In the article, let’s take a look at three instances where foreign cricketers used Hindi swear words: –

Ross Taylor to Gautam Gambhir

Back in 2012, India clean-swept New Zealand in the two-match Test series at home. Even as the opening Test in Hyderabad was fairly one-sided, in Bengaluru, India had to fight for victory. In the last innings of the match, the hosts needed 262 runs to win.

Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir blazed away, scoring 77 off 71 balls. But both opening batters perished in a space of 31 deliveries. There was a heated moment when Gambhir nicked one off Trent Boult to the slip-cordon.

Ross Taylor took a sharp catch at first slip and then vented out his frustration on Gautam, hurling expletives. When the batsman was returning back to the hut, Taylor said bh****od. As far as the game was concerned, India won by five wickets after MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli’s 96-run partnership.

Adam Zampa swearing on Instagram

Back in September-October, Australia toured India for an ODI and T20I series. Adam Zampa was a part of the both the squads and he ended with six wickets. The tweaker was in India with his partner Hattie Leigh Palmer. Before leaving India, the duo had some funny exchange of abuses on Instagram.

Palmer expressed gratitude to India for the hospitality, but also wrote something undesired. “Thanks for the memories, India. Mera m**e le, Adam,” Palmer wrote, captioning her adorable picture with Zampa. But then Zampa replied to the post with another abuse.

He replied to her partner’s post and wrote. “Ma***rr ch*****d.” Even as Palmer and Zampa might not have idea of what they wrote on the popular social media platform, the netizens made the post a butt of jokes.

Martin Guptill to Yuzvendra Chahal

In the second T20I at the Eden Park in Auckland, Martin Guptill didn’t miss out on having fun with Yuzvendra Chahal. The latter owns the popular ‘Chahal TV’ and keeps on interviewing places, irrespective of the place he is in. After the conclusion of the game, Chahal went to the Kiwi for a conversation.

Guptill, at that point in time, was having a chat with Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Chahal went there and asked ‘what’s happening boys.’ Guptill promptly replied ‘hey g**du’. The Black Cap swearing was caught on camera on the live post-match broadcast.

During this while, Chahal also had had chats with the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah. The spinner asked out Bumrah for a dinner-date to which the speedster said that he is always available.
