By their high standards, Australia has underachieved at the five World T20s held before this current edition in India. The fact that this event, which gets underway for Australia on March 18 against New Zealand, is the only major piece of cricketing silverware that they’ve yet to win has been well-documented. Australia still remains one of the favourites to win it this time. The team recently beat South Africa in an away T20I series and got the much-needed confidence and momentum ahead of the global event. Here’s a look at 5 Aussies who make a huge impact for their team in India.

David Warner these days bats at number 3 for the Aussies in the shortest format. Such is the strength of their batting lineup that as many as four guys are competing for the opening spot. Warner is a massive hitter of the ball and well versed with Indian conditions being a regular feature of the IPL like many of his teammates.  He recently played a cracking knock with Glenn Maxwell, against South Africa when they were struggling at 32-3 and guided the team in a massive run-chase. His 57 T20I innings have produced 1595 runs at an average of 29.53 and a belligerent strike rate of 140.77. This includes a top score of 90 not out and 12 fifties. He is the leading run-scorer for the Aussies in this format.
