With Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell in ranks, RCB’s batting line-up is nothing but daunting on the paper. Besides them, young opener Devdutt Padikkal has also been impressive in his brief IPL career. However, quite often in the first leg, RCB’s scoring rate was on the lower side in the initial overs.

In order to prolong the batting line-up, the team management slotted Rajat Patidar ahead of Maxwell and De Villiers. Although this move hasn’t been horrendous, it has certainly increased dependency on the two dasher’s shoulders. With the top order not showing great intent, De Villiers and Maxwell often needed to score quick runs alongside saving their wicket.

After all, there’s not much batting to come after them. Hence, RCB must find out a way to solve this issue. The inclusion of Singapore’s Tim David can reduce the burden on Maxwell and De Villiers’ shoulders.
