Wasim Jaffer made his debut under Sachin Tendulkar back in 2000. But he played his most international games when Sourav Ganguly was the skipper of Team India. He was another exciting opener with all the skillset to become a legendary batsman like Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. He scored 5 tons, 11 half-centuries in short career of 31 Tests.

His ability to smack the new ball with agility made him stand out from the other players. But, that was not enough for him to cement his place in Team India. Sourav Ganguly neglected the brilliance of Jaffer with the bat. It takes many games for a player to smack double ton in Tests. Even many legendary players failed to touch that milestone in their overall career. Jaffer smacked two double ton in 31 games.

The interesting thing was that he scored his first double century against West Indies back in their home. However, Sourav Ganguly, who is known as one of the best Indian captains, failed to reorganize the calibre of the right-handed opener due to which Jaffer didn’t get the much-needed support that he required at that time. If Dada had directed his focus over the right-handed opener then Jaffer might have turned out to be the next big thing in Test cricket for Team India.
