28 year-old Manish Pandey has long been considered as a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to the shorter formats of the game. However, his average run with the bat in the recently concluded eleventh edition of the IPL has put him in a tough spot. In a time where the young talent pool of the game in India is brimming and overflowing, this lacklustre string of performances from Pandey can very well see him miss out on the 2019 WC.

Pandey’s relative inexperience in difficult English conditions will be the ruling factor against his inclusion in the World Cup squad, coupled with his compilation of just 284 runs in 13 IPL matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at an underwhelming average of 25.82. If he’s to have a shot at making it to the side in time, Pandey will have to perform exceptionally in the upcoming India tour of Ireland.
