The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is all set to take place. Each and every player participating in the biggest T20 league in the world would already be raring to get on to the field. It gets more motivating for those individuals who might just be playing their last season. Several players have continued playing in the IPL even after announcing their retirement from international cricket. However, there comes a time when players have to retire from T20 leagues like the IPL as well. Thus, in every season we see several cricketers announcing their retirement from the cash-rich T20 league. Similarly, there’s a huge chance of seeing a few Indian cricketers on the field one last time in the second half of IPL 2021. So which are those cricketers who in all likelihood, will be playing their last IPL? In the article, we shall be taking a look at 5 Indian players who might be playing their last IPL 5) Robin Uthappa Kolkata Knight Riders’ Robin Uthappa in action. (Photo by IANS) It is safe to call Robin Uthappa an ‘IPL Great’. The wicketkeeper batsman has been playing the Indian T20 league since its inception in 2008. He has played for as many as six franchises. However, his most prominent stint has to be with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from 2014 to 2019. He was absolutely sensational for them as he went on to win the Orange Cap in 2014. Coincidentally, KKR also happened to win the title in that season. Post 2019, he represented the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2020 and is now with the Chennai Super Kings. He is already 35 and might just announce his retirement. Besides, he’s yet to get a game for the Super Kings and was warming the bench for them in the first phase of IPL 2021. 4) Kedar Jadhav Kedar Jadhav. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) While Kedar Jadhav may not be an IPL legend, he’s surely an underrated player. He has played several match winning knocks in his IPL career. After a steady stint with the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) he was purchased by Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He had a good season in 2017 as he was one of the positive aspects in a rather dismal season for the franchise. He was then picked by the Super Kings in the 2018 auction for a hefty amount. He was superb in the season opener before getting ruled out of the tournament. After two underwhelming seasons in 2019 and 2020, CSK decided to release him. He now plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and wasn’t a regular feature in the first half of IPL 2021. As he’s 36 and not in the best of form, this might well and truly be his last season. 3) Wriddhiman Saha Wriddhiman Saha of SRH. (Photo Source: Twitter) Wriddhiman Saha is one of those cricketers who was under the shadows of MS Dhoni for a major part of his career. As a matter of fact, he seldom got a chance to showcase his talent in the IPL during his stint with CSK and KKR as well. It was only in 2014 when he was at his best for the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). After representing the Punjab franchise until 2017, he was signed by SRH he has continued playing for them. Not only has he got a chance to bat at the top of the order for them but has also been asked to bat as low as at No.7. However, he was at his best when he was asked to open the innings. As Kane Williamson’s men will be without the services of Jonny Bairstow this time around, Saha is likely to get a longer run in SRH’s playing XI. As he’s going to turn 37 in a month, he might very well retire after this season. Thus, the keeper would definitely try to be at his best during the second phase of IPL 2021. 2) Amit Mishra Amit Mishra. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Amit Mishra is unarguably one of the most underrated IPL players of all time. Statistically speaking, he also happens to be the greatest IPL spinner of all time. No bowler baring Lasith Malinga has picked more wickets than him in this league as well. As a matter of fact, the leggie is just four wickets behind Malinga and there’s a huge chance that he’d overtake the Lankan legend to become the most successful IPL bowler of all time. The spinner has several records to his name when it comes to the Indian T20 league. The most prominent of them being the record of having the most number of hat-tricks (3). However, the veteran bowler is already 38 and will turn 39 in a few months. In all likelihood, this might be his farewell IPL season. Besides, with a major milestone approaching, Mishra would love to end his IPL career on a high. 1) Harbhajan Singh Harbhajan Singh. When it comes to the IPL, he again is one of the finest of all time. The Turbanator started his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians (MI) and was with them for 10 seasons. He almost became synonymous with them until he went under the hammer in the IPL 2018 auction. MI’s arch-rivals CSK then got him for his base price and he went on to play for the Super Kings for two seasons. The conditions at the Chepauk suited him and he had a great stint with them until he was released before the IPL 2021 auction. KKR then purchased him and he hasn’t really been a regular feature in KKR’s playing XI. With Harbhajan into his 40s, it seems likely that he’d announce his retirement from the IPL after the second half of this season gets done.
