Remember that game at M Chinnaswamy stadium in 2011 World Cup? England was defeated by Ireland, the team playing its only second World Cup. Kevin O’Brien was the protagonist of that game, he scored a fabulous hundred as Ireland chased a mammoth total of 327 against its neighbour country.

One of the biggest names of Ireland’s team, hard-hitting all-rounder Kevin O’Brien is yet to feature in the biggest T20 league. The right-hander has featured in almost all the T20 leagues, but no one has ever bid for the finisher the cash-rich event.

The 34-year-old Irish cricketer appeared in numerous IPL auctions from 2009 to 2013 but not even once the franchises exhibited any interest in him. It was strange because of O’Brien’s proven big-hitting proficiency. Maybe the tag of representing an associate country at the international level was the reason, the all-rounder’s absence from IPL is a major loss for both the parties.
