5 IPL scenarios for teams and players in 2025
Mumbai's success and Dhoni's tips just never fade away.
3. Analyzing Rohit Sharma’s first season as a commentator
After a fantastic career as an opener, Rohit Sharma called it time to his career after his side Mumbai failed to make it to playoffs in 2024 season. As always, they managed to choke in the year which is an even number and Rohit retired from cricket with over 10,000 ODI runs, 6 double centuries and many more records to his name.
He joined Sanjay Manjrekar and Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary box for the 2025 edition, not for MI TV, but for Star Sports. The Mumbai trio continued to sing praises of their team while the others remained non-existent. A blind fan who listens to commentary to follow the game, said in a comment on Instagram, “I was listening to what Mumbai was doing, but I never understood who was playing against them. The other team never got mentioned”.
He successfully continued the legacy of Manjrekar and Gavaskar as a Mumbaikar in the commentary box. While the others remained silent, Harsha Bhogle lashed out at the biased commentary and eventually got banned. Moral of the story – Don’t mess with Ambanis, let that be 2019, 2025 or 2050. While Mumbai keeps winning trophies, Liverpool is yet to win a Premier League trophy.
