4. CSK finish on top of the table but lose finals to Mumbai
Some things just don’t change for any team. Despite not having MS Dhoni as a player, his “Tips” continued to inspire Chennai Super Kings to their 18th successive top-four finish. Chennai finished on top of the table, but lost both their group matches to Mumbai. While CSK fans kept dancing to the tunes of “Lungi dance”, apparently “Zingaat” is much stronger.
They reached the finals of the tournament, only to see Mumbai Indians set against them. The CSK fans were disappointed but tried to appear confident in the finals. After winning the title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023, the Hardik Pandya-led team managed to win the title for a record seventh time. After the game, Pandya said to the fans “Mai phirse karke aaya”. Just to be clear, it wasn’t the coffee show he was talking about, he meant he once again won the IPL.
Guess who was doing the commentary – Rohit, Sunny ji and Manjrekar. All of them knew the result, they were pretty confident CSK could never beat them. Chennai fans looked deluded as their Chinna Thala couldn’t do anything, but they promised to come back stronger with more “Tips” from their original Thala.
