The cricket fans broke into tears when one of the most successful captains, MS Dhoni, decided to draw curtains on his glorious international career. The Ranchi stalwart captured the hearts of people through his game and just the way he carried himself all these years on the field. His association with players, able guidance, and calm demeanour shall be remembered by generations to come. He was last seen in action against New Zealand at the 2019 World Cup semi-final.

His admirers were just counting days to get his one more glance in 2021 T20 WC, but unfortunately, the former India skipper had different plans. Millions of fans around the world started posting demands for his grand farewell match to give hero, his well-deserved send-off. The only captain to lift all the ICC trophies decided to cease his international career and circulated the news through a simple Instagram post.

Though he has innumerable records and achievements under his belt, there are things, that always remain to get hold of and to be honest, this is how it goes in life.

Let’s look at five personal milestones MS Dhoni missed after taking international retirement:

MS Dhoni captained Team India in Tests from 2008-2014, and in between, the team attained no 1 ICC Test rankings also. However, his sudden retirement from the format in 2014 came as a shocker for everyone and more so as the team was in the middle of Australia tour.

However, thereafter he remained a crucial figure for Men in Blue in the limited-overs format. Having played 90 Test matches and scored 4876 runs in his career, the amazing cricketer was just a few away from his 100 Tests and 5000 Test runs before he quit the format.

In the same manner, he had 294 Test dismissals to his name. If he would have extended his career a bit longer in Test format, Dhoni would have achieved 300 Test dismissals to his name. Whatever it may be, he did make a mark in the longest format of the game with all his class.
