In 2016 U19 World Cup a Jharkhand keeper-batsman became the captain of the team and it felt like the history was repeating itself. Ishan Kishan was impressive in his first outing as he led the team to finals. After his national heroics, he quickly showed his class when he scored 273 against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy 2016-17. He was picked up by the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and instantly gained fame with his power game. He was roped by the Mumbai franchise in 2018 and in that season he scored a breathtaking 62 of 21 balls against KKR.

Dhoni was having a lean patch with his bat in the year 2016. At that time the Vijay Hazare trophy was around the corner and the Indian legend decided to practice his skills again in the domestic tournament. Dhoni was named the skipper for his home team Jharkhand and led the side to the glory.

During this time Ishan Kishan was finding his feet in domestic circuit, and under MSD’s guidance, he improved a lot. One cannot forget his innings of 53 off 40 balls in a low scoring tie against Saurashtra. The innings consisted of 5 sixes and he played a total of 7 games in Dhoni’s presence as skipper.
