Royal Challengers Bangalore is one unique franchise in the Indian Premier League. The majority of the IPL star players have indeed represented the franchise in one or the other edition of the IPL.  Over the years, the squad’s strength on paper has looked dangerous. However, the franchise still awaits its first-ever IPL title.

IPL 2020 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore started off well. Winning 7 out of their first 10 games RCB looked like a real contender to the top spot on the points table. However, the team went on a losing streak in the final four matches of the league stage. Finding just a little higher Net Run Rate they were able to seal a spot in the playoffs.

There are few players in RCB who have proven to be a liability rather than a sign of strength. Here are 5 players RCB should release ahead of the IPL 2021.

1. Umesh Yadav

The right-arm fast bowler Umesh Yadav has had a season to forget. Not bowling consistent line and lengths, Umesh was picked for runs by the opposition batsmen. He was unable to stop the leakage of runs with his lack of change in pace. Not finding his rhythm Umesh did not contribute much to the side with the ball. Being an experienced Indian International bowler, RCB and the coaching staff certainly expected much better effort from him.

The slow tracks and the change in the size of the grounds in UAE demanded the fast bowlers to adapt. We saw quite a lot of bowlers bowl the cutters and slower balls to good effect in IPL 2020. However, Umesh could not do the same. He did not find any luck bowling either with the new ball or at the death.

His bowling card against SRH showed – 4 overs 48runs and against the KXIP his bowling card showed – 3 overs 35 runs. Umesh Yadav did not get a chance to redeem himself after his disappointing performance in the initial matches. This shows that the RCB think tank and the Captain feel it is time to look ahead of Umesh. It is not going to be a surprise if the franchise releases him ahead of the IPL 2021.
