The selectors have shown reluctance to blood a generation of young batsmen with new-age T20 techniques. Karun Nair is a brilliant batsman all-round the wicket, Shreyas Iyer proved a revelation in last year’s IPL, Suryakumar Yadav is renowned for his improvisation skills, and Deepak Hooda is known to hit the ball miles. All have been important cogs in their IPL teams and are aged between 20 and 25. The likes of Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and Yuvraj Singh seem to be playing under too much pressure. It is high time India gives these talented players a chance at the highest level.
