5 Talking Points of Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 2nd ODI Match at Dhaka: This was the must win battle for Zimbabwe after conceding 1-0 loss to Bangladesh in the first one dayer a few days back. The host team is already leading the series 1-0 and one more loss for the visitors means that they are out of this 3-ODI series. Contrarily, Bangladesh kept their upper hand in the match by bowling beautifully in the match and eventually Zimbabwe got all-out for 183 to offer a convincing 58-run victory to Bangladesh.

Winning the toss, Zimbabwe once again put the hosts to bat first and made a strong comeback today while restricting Bangladesh to a mere 241/9 at the end of 50 overs. Zimbabwean bowlers bowled well and didn’t allow Bengal tigers to score runs too frequently. Bangladesh lost their opening batsman Tamim Iqbal for just 19 at after 7th over as the team’s score was 32 for 1. However, in the end, home team once again emerged victorious.

1.Imrul Kayes’s Brilliant Knock:

Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes played a fine knock of 76 and remained top scorer in the match. Kayes added a brilliant 89-ball knock using a perfect mixture of caution and aggression. He hit 6 boundaries and 4 sixes before getting caught by Graeme Cremer off Sean Ervine. He added a valuable 48-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim to help Bangladesh reach a good total.

2.Taurai Muzarabani’s Amazing Spell:

The Zimbabwean bowler was at his brilliant form today picking up two important wickets of captain Mortaza and Sunny in quick successions towards the end of Bangladesh innings before excelling in his 9 over spell with an economy rate of around 3.5 allowing no batsmen to hit heavily against him. Taurai finished his spell with impressive figures of 9-0-32-2.

3.Panyangara’s Prowess:

The fast bowler did the major damage to Bangladesh by claiming the important wickets of Iqbal, Das and Hossain at cheap scores to completely devastate the host’s middle order and put them under pressure. Panyangara’s bowling spell (10-0-41-3) at an economy rate of 4.1 was the talking point of cricket experts as he got all major wickets including Nasir Hossain who tried to score runs when other batsmen were getting out at cheap scores. Hossain 41 (53b, 4s x 3) played a good knock before being caught by Ervine off Panyangara.

4. Mustafizur Rahman:

Though, Bangladesh were playing without their Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan but Rahman played his part well and bowled brilliantly to put the Zimbabweans under pressure. He picked up 3 important wickets and didn’t allow the visitors to accelerate their run-rate. Rahman finished his spell at 8-0-33-3 including the wicket of experienced Sean Williams.

5. Bangladesh Series Victory:

After putting up a modest total of 241 on board, they defended their total perfectly and bowled out Zimabwe’s all batsmen for just 183 at 43.2 balls winning the match and series as well. Bangladesh clinched the series 2-0 with this 58-run win. No doubt, minnows had hard time to fight it out against the Bengal tigers.
