4. Batting, Keeping, Captaincy and Bowling:
Dhoni’s career started as a keeper who went on to break records with his batting and also his captaincy skills. In between, the keeper cum batsman cum captain decided to roll his arms and bowled medium pace. He was successful in opening his wickets account in the ODI cricket but was denied the same in Test cricket due to the review system. Dhoni is the only Indian to bag a wicket in ODI format while playing as a keeper till date.
Till date in International cricket, only two keeper-captains have added a wicket to their names. Zimbabwe’s Tatenda Taibu achieved this feat both in Tests and ODIs. Dhoni is one of the five players in the International cricket to score a run, take a wicket, take a catch and effect a stumping while leading the team. Taibu and AB de Villiers achieved the feat in ODIs while New Zealanders John Reid and Brendon McCullum also achieved in Tests and across the three formats respectively.
