8 Teams that should play the Champions League if it is hosted in 2020
Franchises from West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, and England have been part of Champions League T20.
4. Melbourne Stars
The Glenn Maxwell-led side finished at the top of the points table in the ongoing Big Bash accumulating 20 points. Opener Marcus Stoinis has hit the purple patch and is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with over 600 runs at an average in excess of 50. Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf has turned out be a revelation and is Melbourne’s leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets in mere 8 games including a hat-trick.
Melbourne Stars have never been part of the Champions League. But the firepower they have in the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Dale Steyn would surely make them one of the favourites for the title. Although the Stars haven’t won the Big Bash in 8 seasons, by finishing at the top of the points table they would want to break that hoodoo first.
It will be interesting to see how they will go about their business if the Champions League is played in India. They possess some of the best T20 players and no wonder the team will impress many with their performances.
