Gujarat Lions opener Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad following a hamstring injury. The Lions are on a winning run, having won 3 out of 3 matches played so far.

Aaron Finch has been the key player for the Gujarat at the top. The opener has hit three consecutive half-centuries in the 3 matches so far. He kicked off his campaign for the Lions with a gritty 74 against the Kings XI Punjab. He followed it up with a 50 against the Rising Pune Supergiants. In the last game that he played, he held on to his nerves and batted through to chase down the target of 143 set by Mumbai Indians. It was during his unbeaten knock of 74 against Mumbai Indians when Finch was seen limping.

He picked up a hamstring injury during the game. The injury, however, is not a major one and this comes much to the relief of the Gujarat Lions team management.

Undoubtedly GL will be missing the services of their most consistent batsman at the top order. Dwayne Smith might get to play his first game of the season unless the Lions spring up a surprise by picking up Dale Steyn. Dale Steyn was seen having an extended session in the nets.

Interestingly, Aaron Finch had picked up a similar injury last year when he turned up for the Mumbai Indians. He had to limp out of the ground on that occasion and was subsequently ruled out of the IPL 2015.

The Lions would hope that the injury heals up soon and Finch gets back in action.
