Abu Dhabi T10 League: Wahab Riaz appointed as the captain of Deccan Gladiators for the upcoming edition
The Deccan Gladiators will lock horns with Chennai Braves on 20 November for their first match of the tournament.
Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the captain of the Deccan Gladiators for the upcoming season of the T10 League in Abu Dhabi. Whereas on the other hand, Mushtaq Ahmed has been named as the Head Coach of the Gladiators.
The Pakistan cricketers Anwar Ali and Rumman Raees are also all set to feature for the Gladiators in the tournament. They are expected to receive good support from West Indies star all-rounder Andre Russell and England’s Tom Banton. David Wiese and Najibullah Zadran are also a part of the setup which further strengthens the unit.
Abu Dhabi T10 League to kick start from November 19
The next edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League is all set to commence from November 19 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium. A total of six teams will be participating in the competition wherein the final is scheduled to be played on December 4. The Deccan Gladiators will lock horns with Chennai Braves on 20 November for their first match of the tournament.
South Africa’s batter Faf du Plessis who will play for Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, had earlier opened up on the T10 format. He stated that having played all the three formats – Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, he is still more attracted towards the T10 format.
“I think players like myself will keep looking at tournaments like this. The future of T10 is looking good. It’s a format that can be used in the Olympics. The quick nature of the T10 also makes it attractive to fans. I think T10 is only going to get better and better,” Du Plessis was quoted as saying by mirror.co.uk.
ICC chair Greg Barclay had also opened up on the same. He had said, “We have more than a billion fans globally and almost 90 percent of them want to see cricket at the Olympics. Our sport is united behind this bid, and we see the Olympics as a part of cricket’s long-term future.
