Adam Milne and Corey Anderson doubtful for ODI series against India
In what will certainly be a blow to New Zealand’s chances against India, Adam Milne and Corey Anderson may be ruled out of action for the upcoming One-Day international series against India later this year. Milne, who has the ability to clock speeds in excess of 90 mph will certainly be a massive loss should he be deemed unfit.
While Corey Anderson’s career has been somewhat injury-free until recently, Adam Milne has been plagued with injuries in his short career thus far. While one points to the fact that he bowls at a fearsome pace, others simply point to the fact that the New Zealand coaching staff do not take care of their faster bowlers better.
Gavin Larsen, the chief selector of the New Zealand cricket board made a statement regarding the same. “Milne is just coming back from a wee tidy-up elbow operation he had,” Larsen told stuff.co.nz.”He’s travelling nicely and he’s going to play in those games, but we are keen to keep expanding his batting game so he’s going to play as a batsman. It’s probably fair to say that it would be a stretch [for him to make the squad for India].”
Larsen also added that the Kiwis would monitor the fitness of Corey Anderson in the days to come. “We will monitor Corey like we’ll watch everyone, and assess where he is at after those games,” Larsen said.”It is the bowling obviously we are very keen to see Corey keep progressing in, to be getting back to being selectable as a genuine all-rounder. We are trying to get that on track as quick as possible.”
