The Bangladesh team is scheduled to play Afghanistan in an away series in June. Since no international cricket is played in Afghanistan due to security issues, the series was supposed to be held in the UAE. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) wanted to host Bangladesh there.

However, the latest development on the subject suggests that the talks between ACB and the concerned authority in UAE have failed to yield results. As a result, the Afghanistan Board hasn’t been able to finalise the venues. Thus, there is a communication with the Indian alliances over the possibility of hosting the series there.

Bangladesh vs Afghanistan likely to be hosted in India

According to a report in Dhaka Tribune, Afghanistan is likely to host Bangladesh in Dehradun for the limited-overs series. It includes three One-Day Internationals and a couple of T20 Internationals as well. While there is no confirmation from both the boards, it’s likely to be hosted in India.

A final decision is awaited from the ACB officials as well as the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The series may begin from the first week of June. It’s obligatory to mention that players from both teams will be featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during April and May. The likes of Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammed Nabi, etc will be present.

Chairman of the BCB Cricket Operations Committee remarked that the discussions were still in progress. Both teams have locked horns 5 times in ODIs with Bangladesh winning thrice. As for the lone T20 International, Bangladesh was the victorious team then.

It will be a wonderful gesture by the BCCI if the Afghan Board gets to host the Bangla Tigers. India is also supposed to host Afghanistan for their first ever game in the white jersey. The lone Test is scheduled to be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru starting on the 14th of June.
